How Givenchy began

Hubert de Givenchy opened his house in Paris in 1952, and his debut collection, including the much-copied Bettina blouse, announced a designer of rare grace. He had trained with some of the great names of Parisian fashion and admired Cristóbal Balenciaga deeply; the two became close friends and kindred spirits.
